Volkswagen has brought in what is surely going to be one of its most important product for future – the Taigun midsize SUV. Launched with two petrol engine options, the new Volkswagen Taigun has been launched in India at a starting price of Rs 10.50 lakh.
2021 Volkswagen Taigun: Exterior
The Volkswagen Taigun seeks inspiration from the design of the T-Cross sold overseas, by having an upright stance and crisp character lines. The SUV gets full LED headlamps with daytime running LEDs above it, a heavy dose of chrome for the front bumper garnish and fog lamp surrounds and a silver skid plate.
The side profile of the Volkswagen Taigun is very much similar to that of the Skoda Kushaq, with which it shares its MQB AO IN platform. Here, the SUV gets 17-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels and roof rails. The rear profile of the SUV gets a heavy amount of chrome as well on the rear bumper, with a long tail light cluster spread across its width, which has LED illumination.
The Volkswagen Taigun has been made available in a total of five different paint schemes – Curcuma Yellow, Wild Cherry Red, Reflex Silver, Candy White and Carbon Steel Grey.
2021 Volkswagen Taigun: Interior and Safety

The Volkswagen Taigun has a completely different looking dashboard layout from the Skoda Kushaq. However, it does share the lower part of the centre console having the touch-sensitive panel for the automatic climate control with its Czech sibling. Apart from that, the Volkswagen Taigun comes with a new three-spoke multi-functional steering wheel, a full TFT 8-inch instrument console with multiple display modes and a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple Carplay and Android Auto.
The cabin of the Volkswagen Taigun gets additional features like leather upholstery, keyless entry with push-button start, ambient lighting, ventilated front seats, wireless smartphone charger, cooled glovebox and a single-pane electric sunroof.
The list of safety features of the Taigun gets six airbags, ABS with EBD, hill hold control, electronic stability control, reverse camera and sensors, tyre pressure monitoring system and ISOFIX mounts for child seats.
2021 Volkswagen Taigun: Engine and Transmission

The Volkswagen Taigun shares both of its engine and transmission options with the Skoda Kushaq. The Dynamic lineup of variants is powered by a 1.0-litre three-cylinder TSI turbocharged petrol engine, which makes 115 bhp of power and 175 Nm of maximum torque, and can be had with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic gearbox. The more premium GT variants get a 1.5-litre four-cylinder TSI petrol engine, which churns out 150 bhp of power and 250 Nm of torque. Featuring a sophisticated cylinder deactivation technology, this engine comes with the options of a 6-speed manual and a 7-speed DSG gearbox.
