Aston Martin has unveiled what is being claimed as the new fastest production SUV of the world, the DBX 707. Based on the standard version of the Aston Martin DBX, the new 707 will now be the range-topping version and comes with a host of mechanical upgrades and a few additional features. The new Aston Martin DBX 707 will soon be on sale in the chief global markets and will also undergo the trials to set off a new record of the fastest SUV at the Nurburgring track, currently held by Porsche Cayenne Turbo GT with a lap time of 7 minutes and 38.9 seconds.
2022 Aston Martin DBX 707 – What’s new?
The new Aston Martin DBX 707 retains the same 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 petrol engine from the standard DBX. However, the engine has been reworked to produce higher performance numbers. Derived from Mercedes-AMG, the engine now produces 707 bhp of maximum power and 900 Nm of maximum torque, thus making it 157 bhp more powerful and 200 Nm more torque-producing than the standard DBX.
The new Aston Martin DBX 707 now takes 3.3 seconds for the 0-100 kmph sprint, which is lower than the time of 4.5 seconds taken by the standard DBX. In the 707 variant too, the engine comes paired to a 9-speed automatic gearbox.
Apart from the reworked engine, the new Aston Martin DBX 707 also gets significant tweaks to its chassis. The new variant gets air suspension, reworked power steering, carbon-ceramic discs for the brakes and a stronger limited-slip differential.
In terms of visual appeal, the new Aston Martin DBX 707 has a unique styling package, which makes it even more special than the standard DBX. While the overall design has been retained from the standard version, the new Aston Martin DBX 707 gets a larger front grille with a new double-vane mesh pattern, slightly redesigned LED headlamps, new front and rear bumpers with revised air intakes on the former, blacked-out detailing, new rear spoiler and larger quad exhausts. It also gets a new set of 23-inch sporty wheels shod with high-performance Pirelli tyres.
On the inside, the new Aston Martin DBX 707 offers Sport Plus seats and a dark chrome theme for the switchgear. The 707 also comes with a new drive mode selector with more responsive control for the key dynamic modes.
2022 Aston Martin DBX 707 – Will it come to India?
Aston Martin currently retails the standard DBX in India in limited numbers. The SUV is priced at Rs 3.82 crore (ex-showroom, India) and happens to be the flagship model from Aston Martin while sitting above the DB11 and Vantage in India’s lineup.
The new Aston Martin DBX 707 might come to India as a limited and exclusive offering. It rivals the likes of Lamborghini Urus, Bentley Bentayga Speed, Porsche Cayenne Turbo SE Hybrid, Maserati Levante and Audi RSQ8.
