Hyundai is one of the most popular automakers in India and when Hyundai Creta was launched in 2014 in the popular compact SUV segment, the response was overwhelming. It’s been six years now and the second generation looks to repeat the success story of its predecessor. The car’s intimidating stance in the new avatar looks straight out of a sci-fi with broad grille and sleek headlamp-fog lamp set up which makes it appear larger than its competition. Nevertheless, 2020 Hyundai Creta is still compact enough to be manoeuvre easily in congested city traffic conditions. Now, it’s time to look at what this compact SUV from the Korean automaker has to offer and how it fairs against its immediate rivals.

Exterior
The 2020 Hyundai Creta features a broad hexagonal grille outlined by chrome and three-element tastefully placed LED headlamps with an eyebrow like LED DRL. The exterior may divide opinions as we believe Korean designers have gone a little over the board in designing the front and rear profiles. The indicators have slipped into the fog lamp housing.
Looking from the profile, the pronounced wheel arches and new dual-tone diamond-cut alloy wheels give it a beefy appearance.
It gets LED tail lamps with a stop lamp in between the two. From the rear, it may be confused to be a premium hatchback just like its earlier version.
It might not appear in first glance due to the crossover look but the all-new 2020 Hyundai Creta has grown in proportions. It is longer, wider and has more wheelbase than its predecessor. However, in the process, it has gone a bit shorter.
Here’s the comparison of the dimensions of old Hyundai Creta and 2020 Hyundai Creta:

Interior
While the exterior may divide opinions, the interior will unit them. The Hyundai Creta interior 2020 show maturity and decency in every bit of it. The dashboard has been kept simpler with neatly appointed 10.25-inch touchscreen unit in the centre. The TFT screen of the instrument cluster shows a variety of key information of the car such as tyre pressure, speed, trip, etc. In terms of upholstery, you get two-tone black and beige option with regular models and all-black cabin with the 1.4-l turbo engine.
The increased dimensions are likely to make Creta roomier than ever. There are an array of thoughtfully designed storage spaces across the cabin. There is a 60:40 rear seat split option and 433 litres of boot space. The availability of the massive panoramic sunroof makes the cabin look airer than it is. Anticipations are also that Hyundai Creta 7 seater is very like to make its debut in India around January 2021. It is likely that Hyundai Creta 7 seater price in India will be offered at the price tag of around Rs 15 lakh. But let’s see when the official confirmations are disclosed from the auto maker.
Engine and Transmission
The Hyundai Creta BS6 gets three engine options – 1.5-litre petrol and diesel, and 1.4-litre turbo petrol engine. It is available with the option of an automatic transmission across its engine variations. While the 1.5-litre petrol and diesel mills yield the same power output of 115PS, the torque of petrol is 144Nm and diesel is 250Nm.
The most powerful engine of the trio – 1.4-litre turbo-petrol generates 140PS of max power and 242Nm of peak torque. It is only offered with a 7-speed Dual Clutch Transmission. You get three driving modes in the new Creta – Normal, Sport and Eco.
The new breed of engines not only offer exceptional performance but also outstanding mileage figures. The petrol variant returns an ARAI claimed mileage figure of 16.8 kmpl and 16.9 kmpl for manual and automatic versions. Contrarily, the diesel offers 21.4 kmpl with the manual gearbox and 18.5 kmpl with the automatic.
Features
Inside the cabin, one gets the creature comforts of steering mounted controls, Bluetooth connectivity, Android and Apple CarPlay connectivity and much more. The interiors also feature a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system which also comes with satellite navigation and leather seats which gives a much more premium feel to the occupants. You get electronic parking brake, paddle shifter for AT variants, air purifier, cooled front seats and auto headlamps.
The highlight is, of course, the connected car tech – Blue Link system. It helps the Creta owner to keep a track of the car, establish geofencing or operating the engine remotely.
