Tata H5X will launch in India before April next year. It will compete against cars like Jeep Compass and Hyundai Creta.
The much-hyped Tata Motors premium SUV, H5X has been unwrapped today at the Auto Expo 2018. The showcased new SUV truly exhibits the underpinnings of the highly appreciated Land Rover Discovery Sport platform. The H5X dons Tata Motors’ latest theme – the Impact Design language 2.0 and will be offered in conventional engines choices of petrol and diesel. Tata H5X SUV will rival the likes of Hyundai Creta at the base model level and with Jeep Compass at the high-end trim level. The car will be launched before April next year and as far as the price is concerned, the Tata H5X is expected to fall in the price bracket of Rs 13-16 Lakh ex-showroom.
Although no revelation has been made on the engine aspect, however, as per sources the homegrown auto major will obtain the 2.0L Multijet diesel mill from Fiat, which currently performs its duties on the Jeep Compass. This punchy diesel engine gives out a good 140hp of power and will be mated to a 6-speed manual transmission gearbox as standard. The extensive use of the lightweight aluminum has resulted in keeping the kerb weight at around 1,650 kg, which is fairly remarkable.
On the outside, in addition to the bold lines upfront and flared wheel arches with 5-spoke alloys on the sides, Tata H5X sports bigger ORVMs with integrated turn indicators, blackened A, B and C-pillars alongside a sharply raked windshield. Inside, besides the roomy cabin, the H5X gets a 3-spoke steering wheel, floating touch-screen infotainment system, rotary drive mode selector, chrome gear knob etc.
