Here are the major changes that you need to know about 2020 Tata Harrier BS6.

Tata Harrier

In just one year of its launch, Tata Motors gave Tata Harrier an update and it’s not only limited to the BS6 engine under its hood, but there are quite a few changes. Launched at Auto Expo 2020, the new version caught a lot of attention from various segments of buyers. It is being sold in five variants and in five new colour options. Take a look at the major changes that have been done in 2020 Tata Harrier BS6.

Engine

One of the most important updates in any vehicle is its engine and it is also a vital update in the Harrier 2020. The car has now been powered by the 170PS version of the 2.0-litre Fiat-sourced diesel engine, meaning that the power is up by 30PS, while peak torque remains as it is. This update has set the vehicle in competition with SUVs like the Jeep Compass and MG Hector that also use the same engine.

With improvements to its shift quality, Harrier BS6 continues to be equipped with a 6-speed manual as standard. Talking about the biggest change, there is an addition of a new 6-speed torque converter automatic option. The vehicle is also available with the convenience of a two-pedal setup.

The carmaker has also claimed fuel efficiency figure of 16.35 kmpl and 14.63 kmpl for the Harrier manual and automatic, respectively. It comes with a 15-litre AdBlue tank which needs to be topped up every 10,000-12,000km in order to keep emissions in check, just like the Jeep Compass diesel.

Features

Tata has also introduced a new top-spec XZ+ variant, along with the BS6 diesel engine and automatic transmission. It also gets various new features like a panoramic sunroof, auto-dimming IRVM, 17-inch dual-tone machine-finished alloy wheels, blacked-out roof and an optional chrome package over the Harrier XZ. Basic safety upgrade is also part of the package as it gets hill hold control, traction control, electronic stability control and rollover mitigation as standard along with existing features such as dual front airbags, ABS with EBD and rear parking sensors.

More Upgrades

With the introduction of the BS6 Harrier, Tata has also addressed various ergonomic issues previously seen on the SUV. The rear view mirrors are noticeably shorter than before for better visibility and aerodynamics. Basically, the model has been redesigned around this particular thing. Furthermore, you will notice that the front USB ports have been moved forward for better accessibility.

Coming To Colours

Sparkle Cocoa and Calypso Red are two new colour options offered in 2020 Harrier. Calypso Red is only available with the dual-tone option. These two new colour options are also replacing Calisto Copper, Thermisto Gold and Ariel Silver colour options that were offered earlier. When you are all set to buy this wonderful car, you would not only be delighted with new upgrades but also with these striking colours that are second to none in the car market industry.

Priced from Rs 13.69 lakh to Rs 20.25 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi), 2020 Harrier continues to rival the likes of the Jeep Compass, MG Hector and higher variants of the Kia Seltos and the newly launched Hyundai Creta.
