Honda is the world’s largest manufacturer of two-wheelers and is considered as one of the most trusted motorcycle and scooter brands in India. The most successful two-wheeler introduced by Honda in the Indian auto market is the ‘Activa’ scooter. This unisex scooter doesn’t need any introduction at all. You will see it commonly running on the streets, ridden by all age groups.
This year, Honda introduced the 6th generation of Activa in India. This new-generation Honda Activa looks very fresh and carries an ubercool appearance, due to a cosmetic overhaul, something the enthusiasts have been eagerly waiting for. It also gets new features apart from the updated BS6 motor.
Here are the 5 impressive things about Honda Activa 6G that you must definitely know.
Interesting Cosmetic Updates
The Activa 6G’s design may look somewhat similar to the outgoing Activa 5G but there are so many differences that make the 6G avatar of Activa way more appealing. It gets a new front fender and new chrome trim on the front apron. Side panels look similar, however, the bike has one air intake instead of two now. To accommodate a new external fuel filler cap, the tail section has been elongated and even the rear grabrail has been given a slightly different design. In addition, a 23mm longer floorboard and longer seat make the Activa 6G longer than before. The 18-litre underseat storage space remains the same. As far as the colours are concerned, the Activa 6G is available in 6 colour choices, which are Glitter Blue Metallic, Pearl Spartan Red, Dazzle Yellow Metallic, Black, Pearl Precious White and Matte Axis Grey Metallic.
Exciting New Features
Whenever a new version of a motorcycle or scooter comes in the market, we look for newly added features. The 6th generation Activa also comes with various new features to delight the scooter buyers. It gets a new external fuel filler cap that can be accessed via a switch next to the ignition slot that also opens the seat. You will also see LED headlamp in the 6th generation Honda Activa, but it is available only in the Deluxe variant. You also get a new pass light switch and an engine kill switch on the switchgear front. The forerunner Activa 5G got a semi-digital instrument cluster, however, the Activa 6G is way more advanced and gets an analogue instrument console that houses speedometer, fuel gauge and odometer.
An All-New Engine
Apart from equipping the Honda Activa 6G with new features, the makers have also introduced an all-new engine. This next-gen scooter gets a 109.51cc BS6-compliant engine that offers optimized fuel combustion, engine cooling and refinement. This new engine also features fuel injection just like the BS6 TVS Jupiter. The new motor has been tuned to deliver better bottom to mid-range performance for improved performance in city riding conditions, which is much needed. Honda claims that the new Activa is 10 percent more fuel-efficient than before.
Compared to the Activa 5G (BS-4), the power and torque of the Activa 6G (BS-6) are slightly reduced by 0.18 PS and 0.21 Nm respectively. The new engine of Activa 6G produces peak power of 7.79PS at 8000rpm and maximum torque of 8.79Nm at 5250rpm. It also gets an ACG starter generator that replaces the conventional motor and offers a silent start operation.

The Activa 6G scooter gets a 3-step preload-adjustable monoshock and telescopic front forks. Moreover, it gets a new 12-inch front wheel in the new-generation, unlike the previous iteration which ran on 10-inch wheels. The scooter continues with steel wheels and drum brakes on both wheels to keep the costs low. The ground clearance of Honda Activa 6G is improved and the wheelbase gets elongated.
Slightly Premium
Honda Activa 6G is now available in two variants, which are Standard and Deluxe. The Standard variant is priced at Rs 63,912 and the Deluxe variant retails at Rs 65,412 (both prices are ex-showroom, Delhi). As far as the price difference of Activa 6G and its 5G counterpart is concerned, the Standard trim of Activa 6G is Rs. 7,978 expensive than the Standard trim of forerunner and the Deluxe variant of the current Activa 6G is Rs. 7,613 expensive than the Activa 5G Deluxe. The scooter maker also offers a 3-year warranty plus a 3-year extended warranty on the Activa BS6, which makes the deal even sweeter.
