What’s the difference between the exterior styling of the two Hectors?
The five- and six-seat Hectors do not feature major difference. That too is confined majorly to the front. It gets redesigned front and rear bumpers which make the Plus 65mm longer. It features restyled headlight clusters, glossy black newly designed mesh grille, sleeker LED DRLs, new headlamps and tail lamps.
What about the colour options of the Hector Plus?
The MG Hector Plus gets six interesting shades including Glaze Red, Candy White, Starry Black, Burgundy Red, Starry Sky Blue and Aurora Silver.

What about the interior changes?
The major change in the cabin of the MG Hector Plus is the new middle row seat with individual seat arrangement. In terms of additional features, it gets new tan faux leather upholstery, restyled dash, AC vents for the third row, adjustable headrests and several others. The Smart Swipe feature enables hands-free opening of the tailgate once you swipe your leg below the rear bumper (Skodas, anyone?). It also gets a 10.4-inch touchscreen system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity along with 55 internet connectivity features.
For the uninitiated, MG is also preparing a seven-seat version of the Hector, which will feature a bench seat in the middle row to accommodate the third passenger.

Have the engines changed?
No, the MG Hector Plus continues to share all the engines and gearbox combinations of the Hector SUV. It gets a 2.0-litre 170hp diesel engine paired with a 6-speed manual transmission. The 1.5-litre turbo-petrol is available as a 48V mild-hybrid version as well as a regular offering. Both petrol iterations are linked to a six-speed manual gearbox, however, the non-hybrid one also gets a DCT automatic option.
How is the safety of the Hector Plus?
It continues to get the same safety net as the five-seat Hector SUV. Front and rear parking sensors, six airbags, ABS, traction, ESC, hill-hold assist, a 360-degree camera and a tyre pressure monitoring system are some of the safety features on offer.
Does Hector Plus get more warranty than Toyota Innova Crysta?
Yes, in order to sneak into Innova loyalists, MG Motors is offering extended warranty as standard with the Hector Plus under its MG Shield Programme. With Hector Plus, you get low starting price and more standard warranty.
The six-seat MG Hector Plus lock horns with the Mahindra XUV 500 and the upcoming Tata Gravitas. Apart from this, lower variants of the Toyota Innova Crysta also seem to be on its list.
CarBikeIndia Says
We believe the starting price of the Hector Plus is intimidating. Buyers looking for captain seat versions of the Toyota Innova Crysta should check out this new version of the Hector. Moreover, the upcoming seven-seat version looks to be more promising provided the third row gets more space.
