Skoda Rapid Matte Edition launched, only 400 units to be made

There is a new limited edition car in town to cash on the upcoming festive season! Skoda India has brought in a limited-run ‘Matte Edition’ variant of its most popular car in India, the Rapid sedan. To maintain its exclusivity, only 400 units of the Skoda Rapid Matte Edition will be available across India. The Skoda Rapid Matte Edition is the only car after the Kia Seltos X-Line Edition to come with a matte paint scheme right from the factory.

2021 Skoda Rapid Matte Edition: Price and Variants

The new Skoda Rapid Matte Edition is now available in India at Rs 11.99 lakh for the petrol-manual variant and Rs 13.49 lakh for the petrol-automatic one. The price of the manual variant is almost similar to those of the Monte Carlo Edition, which happen to be the current top-spec variants of the Rapid. However, the automatic variant of the Matte Edition is almost Rs 20,000 more than that of the Monte Carlo Edition. Also, both the versions of the Matte Edition are around Rs 30,000 more than the prices of Style variants – both manual and automatic.

2021 Skoda Rapid Matte Edition: Exterior Design

Based on the Rapid Matte Concept showcased at the 2020 Auto Expo, the new Skoda Rapid Matte Edition is exclusively available in a single paint shade of matte shade of carbon steel (dark grey). The sedan also features additional gloss black treatment for the front grille, door handles side body mouldings, outside rearview mirrors, front and rear diffusers and boot lid spoiler. Even the 16-inch alloy wheels of the sedan come finished in gloss black. The Matte Edition retains the halogen projector headlamps with daytime running LEDs from the regular Rapid.

2021 Skoda Rapid Matte Edition: Interior and Features

The limited-edition Skoda Rapid Matte Edition has new dual-tone upholstery, which is a combination of Tellur Grey with black leatherette upholstery and Alcantara inserts. Given that the Matte Edition is based on the Style variant, the former has the same equipment list as the latter. The list of features includes an 8-inch Android touchscreen infotainment system, automatic climate control, auto headlamps, rain-sensing wipers, cruise control, steering mounted audio and Bluetooth controls, tilt and telescopic adjustable steering, auto-dimming inside rearview mirror, rear AC vents, driver seat height adjustment, dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, reverse parking sensors and camera.

2021 Skoda Rapid Matte Edition: Engine and Transmission

Skoda has made the Rapid Matte Edition available with the same 1.0-litre three-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine, which powers the other variants of the sedan. This engine is being offered with both the options of a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque converter. The engine puts up 110 bhp of maximum power output and 172 Nm of maximum torque output.

2021 Skoda Rapid Matte Edition: Competition

The Matte Edition variant should give the Skoda Rapid an additional edge over its rivals like Honda City, Hyundai Verna, Maruti Suzuki Ciaz and Volkswagen Vento for the upcoming festive season.
