Toyota has brought in the flagship variant of the lineup of Fortuner SUV, the Legender 4×4. The new Toyota Fortuner Legender 4×4 has been positioned above the Legender 4×2 in the SUV’s lineup. For the unversed, the Legender variant was brought alongside the facelifted Fortuner, which was launched at the beginning of 2021.
Toyota Fortuner Legender 4×4 – Price
The Toyota Fortuner Legender 4×4 has been launched for Rs 42.33 lakh, which makes it the most expensive variant of the Fortuner SUV in India. It is almost Rs 3.72 lakh more expensive than the rear-wheel drive variant of the Legender.
Toyota Fortuner Legender 4×4 – What’s new and what’s not
The only additional equipment which the Toyota Fortuner Legender 4×4 gets over its 4×2 counterpart is the four-wheel-drive system, with new features like low range, lockable differential and hill descent control on offer now.
Apart from this, there is no change to the equipment list of the Toyota Fortuner Legender. The 4×4 variant features the different and sleeker-looking gloss black front grille and quad-LED headlamps, dynamic LED turn indicators, 18-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels, 11-speaker audio system from JBL, powered tailgate with hands-free opening, 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple Carplay and Android Auto, wireless charger, dual-tone black and maroon leather upholstery, electrically adjustable front seats, seven airbags, ABS, electronic stability control, traction control and hill start assist.
Toyota Fortuner Legender 4×4 – Engine and Transmission
The only engine and gearbox combination available in the Toyota Fortuner Legender 4×4 is a 2.8-litre four-cylinder diesel engine paired to a 6-speed automatic gearbox from the standard Fortuner. Here too, the engine makes 204 bhp of maximum power and 500 Nm of maximum torque. The Toyota Fortuner Legender 4×4 misses out on a manual gearbox and a petrol engine option, which the regular Fortuner is available with.
Toyota Fortuner Legender 4×4 – Competition
With the departure of Ford Endeavour from the Indian car market, the only direct rivals to the Toyota Fortuner Legender 4×4 are MG Gloster and Isuzu MU-X. The petrol variants of the regular Fortuner will continue to compete with the Volkswagen Tiguan AllSpace and soon-to-be-launched Skoda Kodiaq.
