There’s a new electric scooter in town! India-based Ampere Electric has come up with an all-new offering in the electric scooter segment – the Magnus EX.
Price
Available in only one variant, the Ampere Magnus EX has been priced at Rs 68,999. As with all the electric vehicles, the Ampere Magnus EX is also compliant with state-based and central government subsidies on electric vehicles, which will bring the price of the scooter even lower.
Looks and Design
The new Ampere Magnus EX looks like a conventional IC engine scooter, with sharp-looking body panels giving a sleek overall visual appeal to the scooter. The Ampere Magnus EX gets chrome highlights around the handlebar-mounted LED headlamp and elongated V-shaped chrome garnish which incorporates turn indicators. The other highlights of the Ampere Magnus EX are a flat and wide floorboard, keyless start, vehicle finder with anti-theft alarm, fully digital instrument console, black coloured alloy wheels, beige-coloured long seat and under-seat storage compartment with LED illumination. The scooter has been made available in three different colour options, namely Galactic Grey, Graphite Black and Metallic Red.
Powertrain
The Ampere Magnus EX sources its power from a 1.2 kW permanent magnet electric motor, which gives it a 0-40 kph sprint time of 10 seconds. The scooter promises a maximum riding range of 121 km from a 38.25 Ah lithium-ion battery, which takes almost 6-7 hours to get fully charged. The scooter features two ride modes – Eco and Power. In the Power mode, the top speed of the Ampere Magnus EX is rated at 53 kph, which makes it a decent scooter for mild urban runabouts.
Chassis
The Ampere Magnus EX has a conventional chassis set up with the facility of a removable battery for charging purposes. The scooter has a decent ground clearance of 147mm and measures 1920mm long, 685mm wide and 1120mm tall. While the wheelbase of the scooter is 1390mm, the maximum loading capacity of the scooter is 150 kg. Suspension duties are handled by hydraulic telescopic forks at the front and a single-sided hydraulic coil spring at the rear. The Ampere Magnus EX is armed with 130mm drum brakes on both ends.
Competition
The Ampere Magnus EX is positioned in the lower segment of electric scooters, which gets other electric scooters like Hero Electric Optima, BGauss B8, Gemopai Astrid Lite, Joy e-Bike Wolf and Pure EV EPluto.
