Official Sketch of Interior of Skoda Slavia Revealed, Shows A Feature Rich Cabin
After a few days of revealing a couple of official sketches of the exterior of the upcoming Slavia sedan, Skoda has released another official sketch showcasing how the sedan will look on the inside. The new interior sketch of the Skoda Slavia shows that the new sedan is ditching the cabin layout of the outgoing Skoda Rapid for an entirely new generation layout inspired by other Skoda offerings.
The sketch clearly shows that the new Skoda Slavia shares a lot of design cues with the newly launched Kushaq SUV. It is quite evident from the overall wide and layered layout of the dashboard, wide centre console with a large touchscreen infotainment system, transmission lever housing panel with gear lever and buttons, two-spoke multi-functional steering wheel.
However, there are a couple of things that differentiate the interior of the Slavia from that of Kushaq. Firstly, there are rounded AC vents that look large and possibly will get chrome surrounds. Secondly, the instrument console here looks like it will be a full TFT display unit, which might retain the graphics and themes from that of the Skoda Octavia. The instrument console too might get chrome surrounds and Skoda badges on its sides.
The layered finish for the centre layer of the dashboard is expected to have a good mix of faux wood and piano black finish, with soft-touch leather at all the required places. The 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple Carplay and Android Auto is expected to be the same as that present in the Kushaq. Other expected features for the Slavia are cruise control, push start-stop button, wireless charger, ventilated front seats, electric sunroof and automatic climate control.
Just a few days ago, Skoda had released the official exterior images of the Slavia, which suggest that the new sedan is larger and sharper to look at as compared to the car it is replacing, the Skoda Rapid. On the outside, the new Skoda Slavia gets crisper lines and a smoother design, which is on the lines of the bigger Octavia. The design highlights of the exterior of the Skoda Slavia include a bigger and bolder looking chrome grille, wider and sharper looking LED headlamps with Superb-like daytime running LEDs, machined alloy wheels, wide Skoda lettering on the boot lid, sleeker-looking LED tail lamps and chrome garnish on shoulder line and rear bumper.
The Skoda Slavia is based on the same MQB-A0 IN platform, which has been specifically engineered for the Indian market. We have already received two different cars based on this platform, the Skoda Kushaq and Volkswagen Taigun. However, this is the first time the platform is being used by a sedan. Naturally, the Slavia will be sharing the 1.0-litre and 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engines with their respective manual and automatic gearboxes with the Kushaq.
The Skoda Slavia comes at a time when the market is swarmed with compact and midsize SUVs. However, with the Slavia, Skoda intends to reinvent the premium compact sedan segment, which currently has Honda City, Hyundai Verna and Maruti Suzuki Ciaz.
