Maserati Launches New MC20 Sports, Hybrid GT and Trofeo Versions of Existing Models

Maserati has revamped its Indian lineup completely by bringing in the latest iterations of all of its current offerings – Ghibli, Levante and Quattroporte, and its new flagship supercar, the MC20. Apart from the MC20, the other Maserati offerings will be available in a new Hybrid GT range and a more sport-oriented ‘Trofeo’ lineup.

The new Ghibli sedan and Levante SUV are not offered in a new Hybrid GT trim, both of which gets subtle updates in and out and a common petrol-hybrid powertrain. Both the Ghibli Hybrid GT and Levante Hybrid GT are being offered with a 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine paired to a 48-Volt hybrid system, which makes maximum power and torque outputs of 325 bhp @ 5,750 rpm and 450 Nm @ 2,250 rpm. While the Ghibli Hybrid GT is capable of hitting a top speed of 255 kmph and does a 0-100 kmph sprint in 5.7 seconds, the Levante Hybrid GT claims a top speed of 240 kmph and a 0-100 kmph sprint of 6.0 seconds.

In terms of visual updates, both these new vehicles get full-LED adaptive Matrix headlamps, split LED tail lamps, twin dual-exhaust tips on either end at the rear and the new ovular Maserati logo on the hood above the signature grille with vertical slats and Maserati Trident. While the Ghibli Hybrid GT is offered with optional Nerissimo and Nerissimo Carbon packages, the Levante Hybrid GT is offered with alloy wheels up to 22-inches in size. In terms of pricing, the Ghibli Hybrid GT range between Rs 1.20-1.45 crore and the Levante Hybrid GT is priced between Rs 1.45-1.60 crore.

New Trofeo Range

All the three models – Ghibli, Levante and Quattroporte – are now offered with a range-topping Trofeo variant, which is essentially the performance derivative for all the three cars. Apart from sporty visual tweaks in and out, all the three cars here get a Ferrari-sourced 3.8-litre twin-turbocharged V8 petrol engine, which breathes out 573 bhp of maximum power and 730 Nm of maximum torque. While the Ghibli and Quattroporte sedans have a claimed top speed of 326 kmph, the same for the Levante SUV is 302 kmph.

On the outside, the Trofeo variants of all the three vehicles here have a piano black finish for the front grille, bigger air inlets at the front, carbon fibre touches all around and bigger alloy wheel options – 21-inch Orione alloy wheels for Ghibli and Quattroporte and 22-inch wheels for the Levante. On the inside, the three cars are packed with updates like a revised 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system, Pieno Fiore leather upholstery, Trofeo emblems on the headrest, ADAS package and Corso button, which is essentially a sport driving mode.

While the Ghibli Trofeo is priced between Rs 1.99-2.20 crore, the same for the Levante Trofeo is Rs 2.38-2.75 crores. The Quattroporte Trofeo sits at the top of the bunch with a price range of Rs 2.32-2.65 crore.

New Maserati MC20

Maserati pulled off a pleasant surprise by launching its flagship global offering, the MC20 mid-engine sportscar. Priced at Rs 3.65 crore, this two-seater sports car was open for bookings from June 2021, with its deliveries now slated to begin from February 2022.

The very aerodynamic looking Maserati MC20 is offered in six paint schemes, namely Rosso Vincente (red), Grigio Mistero (red), Bianco Audace (white), Blu Infinito (blue), Nero Enigma (black) and Giallo Genio (grey). It is the first-ever Maserati offering to come with upward-opening butterfly doors, with other highlights of the car being a sporty looking front splitter and rear diffuser. The minimalist looking cabin of the Maserati MC20 is executed in Alcantara leather and carbon fibre touches, and features a three-spoke multi-functional steering wheel, 10.2-inch TFT instrument console, 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system and an optional premium Sonus Faber audio system.

The heart of the Maserati MC20 is a 3.0-litre twin-turbocharged V6 petrol engine, that churns out 641 bhp of maximum power and 730 Nm of maximum torque. Mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission with a manual or automatic slip differential, the engine enables the MC20 to have a top speed of 325 kmph and a claimed 0-100 kmph sprint of just 2.9 seconds. Other mechanical highlights which make the Maserati MC20 the most desirable car from the house of iconic Trident include four different driving modes – GT, Sport, Corsa and Wet and suspension lifter function to raise the front axle by 50mm up to 40 kmph of speeds.
