Benelli might have had a quiet run in the major part of FY 2020-21, as all of its models barring the Imperiale 400 were shown the exit doors during the transition to BS6 emission norms. However, the Chinese-owned Italian marquee has bounced back with consecutive launches like TRK 502 duo, Leoncino 500 and 502C in 2021.

The next big addition in Benelli’s lineup for India is the TRK 251, the details of which have been confirmed by the company. The price of the new Benelli TRK 251 will be unveiled in the coming days, with the first batch of deliveries set to commence in January 2022. However, Benelli has started taking bookings for the motorcycle at a token amount of Rs 6,000, which can either be made online on Benelli India’s official website or at any of the authorized dealerships of Benelli across India. Benelli has also announced that the new TRK 251 will be made available in India in three different colour options of white, black and grey, and with a 3-year/unlimited kilometer warranty.

While Benelli hasn’t announced the technical details of the TRK 251, the motorcycle is expected to be the same as the global-spec model which is sold in many other overseas markets. The motorcycle is expected to share its single-cylinder, liquid-cooled, four-valve, 249cc engine with the Euro-5 Leoncino 250. Coupled with a 6-speed gearbox, this engine is capable of producing a maximum power output of 25.8 bhp @ 9,250 rpm, while the peak torque output is expected to be rated at 21.2 Nm @ 8,000 rpm.

Even the chassis of the Benelli TRK 251 is expected to remain unchanged in all likelihood. The motorcycle will come with upside-down hydraulic telescopic forks with 135mm travel at the front and adjustable mono-shock with 51mm travel at the back. For braking, the motorcycle will be equipped with a 280 mm petal disc brake at the front and a 240 mm petal disc at the rear, which will be paired with a dual-channel ABS. The motorcycle will ride on 17-inch multi-spoke alloy wheels, with 110/70 R17 tyre at the front and 150/60 R17 tyre at the rear. Other details of the Benelli TRK 251 include an 18-litre fuel tank, 800 mm seat height, 164 kg kerb weight and 170 mm ground clearance.

In terms of looks and design, the Benelli TRK 251 is designed on the lines of the bigger TRK 502. However, there are more modern dual LED projectors with daytime running LEDs at the front, with even the tail lamp and turn indicators having LED illumination. Other noteworthy features of the TRK 251 are a transparent windscreen at the front, luggage carrier at the back, split seats and a fully digital instrument console, which shows data like speed, engine rpm, gear indicator, fuel gauge, odometer, trip meters and clock.

While the price of the Benelli TRK 251 hasn’t been announced yet, the Benelli TRK 251 will be pitted against KTM Duke 250 and BMW G 310 GS.
