Alfa Romeo has launched its new premium compact SUV ‘Tonale’ in the global markets. The new premium compact SUV is positioned below Alfa Romeo’s flagship SUV Stelvio and debuts the use of NFT digital certificate, which is the first for a production car.
First production car to use NFT based on blockchain technology
The Alfa Romeo Tonale becomes the first car in the world to come equipped with an NFT (non-fungible token) digital certificate. Based on the blockchain concept, Tonale uses NFT to increase its residual value. NFTs usually are sued to indicate the ownership of a digital form of items, such as those belonging to the field of art, entertainment, sport, gaming or craft.
The use of NFT in Alfa Romeo Tonale is quite simplified. The Tonale will track the data of the vehicle, based on which it will generate a certificate that can be used as a guarantee of the vehicle’s overall status and behaviour in its overall term of usage. This will surely prove as an additional source of credibility for the user, whenever he wishes to sell his Tonale to some other person or car dealer.

Targeted at younger audiences, the Tonale gets sleeker and horizontally laid ‘3+3’ LED headlamps, which use triple LED projectors and pay a tribute to the headlamp design of the Alfa Romeo SX launched in 1989. The traditional triangular ‘Tribolo’ grille sits in the middle of the front fascia, which along with the bumper inserts, gets a honeycomb mesh pattern. The round-themed gunmetal alloy wheels mimic the design of the wheels of the Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale from the 1960s.

This engine powers the front wheels, while there is an additional electric motor that powers the rear wheels.
