After teasing it through a series of pictures and videos on its social media handles, Tata Motors has fully unveiled its latest entry in the compact car space, Punch. Launched as a micro-SUV, the new Tata Punch has been slotted between the Tiago NRG and Tata Nexon. Prices of the new Punch micro-SUV will be announced on October 20th, however, official bookings of the car have started from today onwards.
2022 Tata Punch: Variants, Features and Colour Options
Unlike other Tata offerings, the new Tata Punch gets completely new variant nomenclature. There are four different variants for the new micro-SUV, details of which are as follows:
Pure –

Made for Pure variant

Includes – 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple Carplay and Android Auto, two tweeters, reverse camera

2022 Tata Punch: Engine and Transmission Options
In all the four variants of the Tata Punch, the only engine option which has been made available is the 1.2-litre three-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine. This engine is the same unit which is there in the Tiago, Tigor and Altroz, and make 86 bhp of maximum power and 113 Nm of maximum torque. A 5-speed manual gearbox is standard across all the variants, along with an optional 5-speed AMT gearbox starting from Adventure variant.
2022 Tata Punch: Chassis and Dimensions
The Tata Punch measures 3,827mm long, 1,742mm wide and 1,615mm tall, and has 2,445mm of wheelbase, 366 litres of boot space and 187mm of ground clearance. Like the Tata Altroz, the Punch too sits on Tata’s ALFA platform and has features like 90-degree wide opening for all four doors and a flat floor for rear passengers.
Apart from these details, Tata Motors has also revealed some additional interesting data for the Punch, like 20.3 degrees of approach angle, 37.6 degrees of departure angle, 22.2 degrees of rampover angle and water wading depth of 370mm.
2022 Tata Punch: Competition
The Tata Punch will take on the likes of other SUV-styled hatchbacks like Maruti Suzuki Ignis and Mahindra KUV100. It will also compete with naturally aspirated variants of Nissan Magnite and Renault Kiger.
