On February 7th the German luxury carmaker, BMW launched its 6-Series Gran Turismo sedan at the ongoing 2018 Indian Auto Expo. This is one of the three new products that BMW has brought to the biennial event. The price of 6-Series GT variants starts at Rs. 58.9 lakh (ex-showroom). This BMW GT offering happens to be one of the first cars to come to India which complies with BSVI emission norms or as they’re known in international markets, the Euro 6 emission norms. These emission norms will be enforced in the country from April 2020.
The car gets double-barrel adaptive LED cornering headlights, active kidney grille, lip spoiler, long swooping lines, dropping rear roofline, wraparound LED taillights and dual exhausts. Inside the cabin, we find wooden trims on the dash at the centre and the same dual tone treatment we find in the 5-Series. The dash also gets a 10.25-inch freestanding touchscreen which features BMW’s iDrive system. Other features include a digital-analogue instrument console, panoramic sunroof, heads-up display, BMW display key. The driving mode offered in the 6-Series GT include Eco Pro, Comfort+, Adaptive and Sport mode.
Under the hood, 6-Series GT is offered with a 2.0-litre Twin-Turbo petrol engine, which can produce 258PS of peak power output and 400 Nm of the torque. The petrol powerplant comes mated to an 8-Speed ZF automatic transmission. There will also be a diesel model launching sometime later this year. The BMW 6-Series will rival the likes of Mercedes-Benz E-Class which has become very popular in its segment as a courtesy of its longer wheelbase.
