One of the most reputed brands of engine oils for vehicles, Castrol has launched a new range of MAGNATEC engine oils. Specially formulated for BS6 compliant engines of cars and SUVs sold in India, the Castrol MAGNATEC is claimed to be the first-ever 0W-16 engine oil available for retail aftermarkets in India.
The new MAGNATEC engine oil claims to be compatible with the BS6 diesel-powered engines, which now come with an after-treatment diesel particulate filter (DPF). It should be noted that the DPF used in the new-age BS6 diesel engines are sensitive to sulphated ash, phosphorus and Sulphur (SAPS) content. The new Castrol MAGNATEC is formulated with the intent to reduce the SAPS content in the DPF and make the engine more refined and consistently powerful in the long run.
The new Castrol MAGNATEC is compliant with the industry specifications of ACEA C2/C3. In addition, it also meets the API requirements for controlling the issues pertaining due to low-speed pre-ignition in naturally-aspirated and turbocharged direct-injection gasoline engines.
Currently, Castrol has made the new MAGNATEC engine oil available in four variants, 0W-16, 0W-20, 5W-30 and 5W-40, out of which the first one is the first-of-its-kind in India. All these variants of the Castrol MAGNATEC are advanced enough to meet the recommendations of automotive OEMs to use thinner-grade lubricants, including 0W and 5W. In addition to this, all the variants of this engine oil feature Castrol’s DUALOCK technology, which aims to reduce loads on the engine and decrease the wear rate of the engine by up to 50 per cent.
Commenting on the occasion of the launch of new Castrol MAGNATEC engine oil for BS6 vehicles, Jaya Jamrani, Vice President, Marketing, Castrol India, said, “Castrol has always strived to deliver best-in-class products that provide unmatched performance and protection to vehicles. The transition to BS-VI emission norms required refreshed offerings of lubricants with lower SAPS and thinner grades. With our all-new MAGNATEC range, Castrol has led the industry move towards BS-VI compatible lubricants. The new, fully synthetic Castrol MAGNATEC range is designed for BS-VI engines, but is also backward compatible with many older applications.”
