While Citroen had a restricted start in the Indian car market with the niche C5 Aircross SUV, it is intending to go big with the C3 hatchback. The new Citroen C3 is the most affordable product from the French carmaker, which is aimed at budget-oriented car buyers and getting into serious volume games.
Compared to a majority of other hatchbacks, the Citroen C3 is available with just two variants – Live and Feel, and two engine options. Firstly, there is a 1.2-litre three-cylinder naturally-aspirated petrol engine, which makes 82 PS of power and 115 Nm of torque and paired to a 5-speed manual gearbox, and is available in both variants. On the other hand, the more powerful 1.2-litre three-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine, which produces 110 PS of power and 190 Nm of torque and is coupled to a 6-speed manual gearbox, is available only in the higher-spec Feel variant.
While other carmakers are trying their luck by offering a plethora of comfort and convenience features, Citroen has chosen the old-school route of offering only the essentials to keep costs in check. Here’s comprehensive information on all the features available in the two variants of the Citroen C3:
Citroen C3 Live
Engine options: 1.2-litre naturally-aspirated petrol
Price: Rs 5.70 lakh (manual)
Colour options: Polar White, Zesty Orange, Platinum Grey, Steel Grey
The Live variant is the entry-level variant of the Citroen C3 and is available only with the 1.2-litre naturally aspirated 82 PS petrol engine. Like the base variant of other compact hatchbacks of its price, the new Citroen C3 Live gets halogen headlamps, side body moulding, body-coloured front and rear bumpers, blacked-out A and B pillars and full wheel covers. On the inside, the C3 Live gets essentials like manual AC, 12V power socket at the front, bottle holders in door pockets, one-touch front power windows and a fully-digital instrument console with a trip computer. The list of basic safety features in this variant includes dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, reverse parking sensors, engine immobilizer and high-speed alerts.

In our opinion, it is the variant one should prefer over the rather bare-bones Feel. While it gets all the features of the Live variant, it adds on bits like daytime running LEDs, body-coloured door handles, blacked-out C-pillar (only with dual-tone colour options), wheel arch claddings, front side skid plates and gloss black roof rails. On the inside, the additional features over the Live variant are a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple Carplay and Android Auto, four speakers and steering-mounted audio and Bluetooth controls. It also gets gloss black surrounds for AC vents, satin chrome inserts, driver seat height adjustment, tilt-adjustable steering, one-touch rear power windows, parcel tray, front seat back pockets, vanity mirror in co-driver side sun visor, three USB chargers (one at the front and two at rear) and speed-sensitive auto door lock.
Citroen is also offering a Vibe Pack with the Feel variant of the C3, which is an optional package with the naturally-aspirated version and standard with the turbocharged version. This pack includes visual add-ons like body side moulding and painted inserts, painted outside rearview mirror covers, painted front fog lamp surrounds, painted rear reflector surrounds and front fog lamps.
The Citroen C3 Feel is available in four iterations. The standard version with the naturally-aspirated petrol engine costs Rs 6.62 lakh. Pay Rs 6.77 lakh, and you will get the same standard version with either a dual-tone colour option or the Vibe Pack. And if you want both the dual-tone colour option and Vibe Pack with the naturally-aspirated Feel variant, you will need to shell out 6.92 lakh. The fourth and range-topping version is the one with the turbocharged petrol engine, which is offered with dual-tone colour options and Vibe Pack as standard and is priced at Rs 8.05 lakh.
