Both Honda and Maruti recently introduced their next generation of compact sedans. Another common factor between the two cars is both Maruti Suzuki Dzire and Honda Amaze are carrying forward power plants from their predecessors. With brand-new designs and platform, one needs to take a closer look at the other attributes of these cars to find out which one has the most to offer. In the following comparison, we will pit Maruti Suzuki Dzire, Honda Amaze and Toyota Etios against one another.

Dimension

Both Market Suzuki Dzire and Honda Amaze are Sub 4-metre compact sedans. Maruti Dzire is 3995 mm long whereas Honda Amaze is slightly shorter and stands at 3990 mm. Maruti Suzuki Dzire has a longer wheelbase than as compared to Honda Amaze. It is also wider and taller than Honda’s offering which means that it will manage to offer more cabin space to its occupants. Honda Amaze has a higher ground clearance than Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire. Coming to Toyota Etios, the sedan is clearly longer than the other compact sedans in this comparison. Petrol Engine

The 1.2-liter petrol motor in Honda Amaze produces 88.7 BHP of peak power output and 110 NM of torque. The 1.2L motor in Maruti Suzuki Dzire produces a comparatively inferior power output of 82 BHP and 113 NM of torque. The most powerful Petrol model is that of the Toyota Etios which gets a 1.5-liter motor that produces 88.73 BHP of power and 132 NM of torque. Etios is only available with a manual transmission whereas both Honda Amaze and Maruti Suzuki Dzire get both manual and automatic gearbox options. Maruti Suzuki Dzire is the most frugal of the three cars and offers and an ARAI claimed fuel economy of 22 kmpl for both manual and automatic variants. Honda Amaze, on the other hand, gets a 17.8 kmpl fuel economy stat for its manual variants and 18.1 kmpl fuel economy stat for the automatic model. The 1.5-liter petrol motor in Toyota Etios gets the lowest fuel economy of the three and stands at 16.78 kmpl.

Diesel Engine

Maruti Suzuki Dzire gets a 1.3L 74 BHP, 190 NM torque DDis 200 diesel motor. On the Amaze is powered by a larger 1.5L 98.6 BHP, 200Nm torque motor. The least powerful of the three is Toyota Etios which gets a 1.4-liter engine. Honda Amaze and Toyota Etios both are offered with a manual transmission but Dzire also has an option of an automatic gearbox. The diesel Maruti Suzuki Dzire is the most frugal of the three cars and features a fuel economy stat of 28.4 kmpl for both manual and automatic variants. Honda Amaze gets an ARAI claimed fuel economy of 25.8 kmpl and stands in the second place and the least Frugal of the three cars is Toyota Etios which gets a 23.59 kmpl fuel economy.

Prices

Maruti Suzuki Dzire is the cheapest of the three cars with pricing starting from RS. 5.56 to 9.43 lakh followed by Honda Amaze which starts at RS. 5.58 – 8.5. lastly, the most expensive of the three cars is the Toyota Etios. The base model Toyota Etios features a price tag of Rs. 6.8 Lakh and the top-of-the-line model is priced at 8.79 lakh.
