Ford Figo Cross Will Be Unveiled On January 31

Ford Figo Cross will get a new 1.2 litre Dragon Series engine and is likely to get increased ground clearance than the Figo hatchback.

Ford Figo Cross, the upcoming Figo-based cross-hatch is all set to be unveiled on 31st January, 2018. Already the car has been spied undergoing road tests plenty of times, and now it is confirmed that the company will unveil the Figo Cross just a week ahead of the Auto Expo 2018. To mention, this time, Ford is not participating in the 14th Indian Auto Expo, and this unveiling of the Figo Cross can rightly be called a strategic move by the company to get maximum attention of media and automobile fanatics, right before the Auto Expo.

The car will look much like the Brazilian Ka Trail cross-hatch and is reported to be named ‘Freestyle’. It will get the SUVish appeal along with the Figo’s skin and will have features like broader tyres with increased wheel size, high ground clearance, body cladding and roof rails. In Ford’s lineup, Ford Figo Cross will be positioned right below the EcoSport crossover.

The interior of the Figo Cross will be tweaked a bit and the car is expected to feature an all-new leather upholstery. The base variants of the Figo Cross will get a 6.0 inch touchscreen infotainment, taken from the EcoSport’s lower-spec trims, while the top-end trims will get the 8.0 inch infotainment with Ford’s Sync 3. Besides, the safety features like ABS with ESP and Six airbags will be introduced in the high-end trims of the Figo Cross.

Mechanically, the Ford Freestyle is expected to be very much different from its hatchback sibling. It will get a 1.2 Litre, 3-pot dragon petrol engine that will produce peak power of 95hp and maximum torque of 115Nm. Moreover, the engine will be mated to an all-new 5-speed manual transmission from Getrag.

The car is expected to be launched somewhere in the price range of rupees 5.5 lakh to 6 lakh. It will compete against Honda WR-V, Toyota Etios Cross and Hyundai i20 Active.
