Hyundai has announced the introduction of its globally famed ‘N Line’ brand of cars in India with the new i20 N Line. The new Hyundai i20 N Line boasts of a range of visual enhancements in and out as well as tweaks to chassis, as compared to the regular version of i20.

The new N Line variant of the Hyundai i20 is based on the regular version of the i20, however, there is a whole range of visual enhancements in the former to set it apart and make it look sportier. At the front, the new Hyundai i20 N Line has a new ‘chequered flag’ grille with the ‘N Line’ logo, sharper-looking revised fog lamp housings and black front splitter with sporty red accents.

The major changes in the side profile of the Hyundai i20 N Line are a new set of 16-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels, black side skirts with red accents and red-coloured callipers for front disc brakes. The rear profile of the car is spruced up with new twin exhaust pipes, a revised black diffuser, a new roof spoiler with side wings and dark chrome garnish across the boot lid.

The Hyundai i20 N Line will be made available in four monotone colour options (Thunder Blue, Fiery Red, Polar White and Titan Grey) and two dual-tone colour options (Thunder Blue with Phantom Black and Fiery Red with Phantom Black).

The overall cabin layout of the Hyundai i20 N Line is exactly similar to that of the current interior of the turbo-petrol versions of i20. However, the all-black cabin of the N Line version gets sportier red highlights and red ambient lighting. Other visual tweaks include a new three-spoke sporty multi-functional steering wheel, sporty pedals and N Line logo on the gear lever and leatherette seats.

The new Hyundai i20 N Line has retained the equipment list of the range-topping Asta (O) variant of the regular i20. The new version gets premium features like a full TFT instrument console, 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, premium BOSE audio system with seven speakers, automatic climate control, electric sunroof, wireless phone charger, cruise control, voice command system and updated version of the Bluelink app with new OTA map updates.

In terms of safety, the hatchback is blessed with six airbags, a rear parking camera with sensors, vehicle stability management, electronic stability control, auto headlamps, hill start assist and a tire pressure monitoring system.

The only engine option in the Hyundai i20 N Line will be the 1.0-litre three-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine, which here also, will continue to make 120 bhp of maximum power and 172 Nm of maximum torque outputs. The gearbox options too will continue to be the 6-speed iMT and 7-speed dual-clutch automatic.

However, there are a few mechanical enhancements over the regular i20 turbo-petrol, such as additional disc brakes at the rear, sportier exhaust note, heavier steering feel and tweaked suspension.

The official launch of the new Hyundai i20 N Line is slated to happen in September, possibly before the festive season kicks off. Prices will be announced only at the time of launch, however, they are expected to be at a premium of Rs 1-1.5 lakh more than the current range-topping Asta (O) variants of turbo-petrol powered regular i20. This will make the N Line versions the new range-topping variants of i20. The nearest competitor to the Hyundai i20 N Line will be the Volkswagen Polo GT.
