Here’s the comparison of Hyundai Venue, Mahindra XUV300 and Tata Nexon.
Since 2019, the compact SUV, Hyundai Venue is enjoying a successful venture in the Indian car market. The introduction of varied transmission choices and three calibrating engines (1.4L diesel, 1.2L petrol and 1.0L turbo-petrol) adds to the buying preference of new car buyers. Currently, Hyundai Venue is sold in the price range of INR 6.75 – 11.65 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
However, the fight to be the leader in the highly competitive compact SUV segment isn’t that easy as the Hyundai Venue competes against some of the already established players such as Mahindra XUV 300 and Tata Nexon.
Let’s stack up these three vehicles against each other to see which one rules the lucrative SUV segment in India.
Exterior
Hyundai Venue is a head turner and gives tough competition to the likes of Tata Nexon and Mahindra XUV300 when it comes to styling. The Venue features a cascading front grille and striking dual headlamp setup with an upright SUV stance that has already worked wonders for Hyundai Creta.
Earlier, the sunroof feature was only limited to Hyundai Venue and Mahindra XUV300, but the latest model of Tata Nexon also got updated with the sunroof. While considering wheel size, the Venue and Nexon have got a smaller set of wheels compared to the 17-inch wheels of XUV300.

Comfort & Convenience
The Hyundai Venue tries to tip the scale in its favour by offering Hyundai’s Blue Link connectivity technology that offers as many as 33 smart features. The distinct edge that Venue (automatic gearbox) has over its two competitors is that while the other contenders have keyless entry, push-button start and auto climate control, in Venue one can control these functions remotely from smartphones.
The Mahindra XUV300 is the only one among these three to have added flexibility of a dual-zone AC, while the rear seat passengers in Venue and Nexon would need to be content with the dedicated AC vents. Except Tata Nexon, light-sensing auto headlamps are standard across the competitors.
Rain sensing wipers, heated wing mirrors, auto interior rear view mirror and telescopic steering are missing in the Venue, while the other two have these features. Tata Nexon earlier wasn’t offered with cruise control but in the new Nexon, the auto-maker has offered this feature. To mention, the Hyundai Venue and Mahindra XUV300 have already been on offer with the cruise control feature. The Venue, however, misses the mild-hybrid technology with auto start/stop.

Seats & Upholstery
When it comes to seats and upholstery, 60:40 split-folding rear seats, driver’s seat height adjust, armrests, adjustable headrest and other basic essentials are standard in these SUVs. However, Venue and XUV300’s cabin offers more premium feel as it uses richer materials for the upholstery, gear knob and steering wheel. This sets these two compact SUVs way above the Tata’s Nexon in terms of fit & finish.

Infotainment
On the infotainment front, all three have plenty to offer. Standard features like Bluetooth, steering mounted controls, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay and voice recognition are present in all these three compact SUVs. The 8.0-inch display of Hyundai Venue is the largest, with the Mahindra XUV300 getting a 7.0-inch touchscreen and the Tata Nexon gets the smallest with a 6.5-inch display. But, the Venue manages to put itself ahead by offering a wireless phone charger.

Safety
Owing to the latest safety regulations in place across the country, one can expect basics like dual airbags, EBD, rear parking, ABS across this segment. However, XUV300 has an upper hand as it offers front parking sensors too. Comparatively, Venue and XUV300 offer much more in terms of safety that includes 6-airbags (7 in case of XUV), ESC, brake assist (available in Nexon also).
While the Venue still has to be crash tested, the competition would be fierce as the Tata Nexon is the first Indian car that scored the perfect 5-star GNCAP adult safety rating. It also scored 3 stars on GNCAP child safety rating parameters. The XUV300 is also alike when it comes to GNCAP adult safety rating, scoring 5-stars, however it stands as a slightly safer option than the other two due to its GNCAP child safety rating of 4 stars.

Price
When you are selling in the Indian market, price got to be your priority. And, Hyundai has just managed to tag the Venue at an attractive price tag. This means that the new Hyundai Venue not only gives a run for money to Mahindra XUV300, but it also challenges the budget-friendly Tata Nexon.
