Expected to see different powertrain and gearbox setups, India-manufactured Kia Sonet will be exported across the globe.
The much-awaited compact SUV Kia Sonet is all set for a September 2020 launch in India. The high on tech car will be unwrapped on August 7, followed by the bookings at the respective dealerships. The official price announcement is expected to be made in September. To add fire to its line-up, Sonet will be presented in Tech and GT Line trims alongside many segment-first features.

Features
Kia’s maiden assault at the compact SUV segment is anticipated to see features such as 10.25” touch infotainment, Kia’s UVO in-car connectivity tech, Bose sound system, sunroof and others. While other features include auto AC, air purifier, LED headlamps and tail lamps, etc.

Engines
The Sonet is expected to see at least three powertrains namely, 1.2L petrol (manual gearbox), 1.0L turbo-petrol (manual + dual-clutch automatic gearbox), and 1.5L diesel (manual + torque-converter automatic gearbox). With three engines at its disposal, the Kia SUV will have ample of options for each of its buyer. For the initiated, Maruti Vitara Brezza has only one petrol engine option.
The made-in-India Kia Sonet will be produced in Kia India’s Anantapur (Andhra Pradesh) based manufacturing facility and will be exported overseas. Globally, as of now, Andhra Pradesh plant will be the sole production hub for Kia Sonet compact SUV.
Competition
The subcompact SUV from Kia locks horns with Tata Nexon, Ford EcoSport, Maruti Vitara Brezza, Hyundai Venue and Mahindra XUV 300.
Price
The prices of the Kia Sonet subcompact SUV are expected to fall in the price bracket of Rs 8-13 lakh (ex-showroom). If Sonet SUV is able to undercut its rivals, we have a winner here.
