Mahindra’s popular model for the Tier 2 and 3 cities and rural markets, the Bolero, has been updated with a couple of features for the 2022 model, including a passenger-side airbag. The new Mahindra Bolero remains significantly unchanged apart from these new minute updates, though the prices of all the variants of Bolero have gone up.
2022 Mahindra Bolero – Prices
Like before, the new Mahindra Bolero continues to be available in three variants – B4, B6 and B6 (O), the prices of which are as follows:
- Mahindra Bolero B4 – Rs 8,99,996
- Mahindra Bolero B6 – Rs 9,79,995
- Mahindra Bolero B6(O) – Rs 9,99,996
The new prices indicate that the new Mahindra Bolero is now dearer than the 2021 version by almost Rs 14,000-16,000.
2022 Mahindra Bolero – What’s new?
Mahindra has finally made dual airbags across the entire range of Bolero as standard. Previously, the Bolero was available only with a driver-side airbag across the range. This move is seen in respect of the mandatory rule by the Indian Government to make dual airbags as standard for all passenger vehicles from January 2022.
To accommodate the new passenger-side airbag, Mahindra has tweaked the passenger side of the dashboard as well. As a result, the previously available grab handle above the closed glove box on the passenger side of the dashboard is gone now. In the place of it, Mahindra has introduced a common dashboard panel, which gets faux wood garnish on it. This garnish is similar to what is present around the AC vents and music system in the centre console.
2022 Mahindra Bolero – What’s unchanged?
Apart from the inclusion of a passenger-side airbag and tweaks to the dashboard, the new Mahindra Bolero remains mechanically unchanged. There are no changes to the exterior design of the Bolero, with the vehicle retaining its boxy and upright stance, 15-inch steel wheels and three monotone colour options of White, Silver and Brown.
On the inside, the Mahindra Bolero continues to retain its fully-digital instrument console, 1-DIN music system with two speakers and supports for AUX and Bluetooth, manual AC, remote keyless entry and power steering. On the front of safety, the Bolero also gets reverse parking sensors and ABS with EBD as standard.
The new Bolero continues to have the same 1.5-litre three-cylinder BS6 mHawk diesel engine under its hood. Available with a 5-speed manual gearbox as the standard transmission, the engine produces a maximum power output of 75 bhp and a maximum torque output of 210 Nm. The Bolero is available with a rear-wheel-drive setup as standard.
2022 Mahindra Bolero – Competition
The Mahindra Bolero is available in a very niche segment of a utilitarian people mover, an area that has seen players like Chevrolet Tavera, Toyota Qualis and Tata Sumo in the past. However, in the current era, the Mahindra Bolero doesn’t have any direct rival in the Indian market.
