Mahindra Scorpio Facelift 2017 gets a new 140 bhp mHawk engine, new 6-speed transmission. It is priced at Rs. 9.97 Lakhs (Ex-showroom Delhi) for the S3 variant.
After three years of wait, Mahindra has finally launched the new Mahindra Scorpio 2017 in the Indian market. The next-gen Scorpio has been priced at Rs. 9.97 lakh (Ex-showroom Delhi) and comes with a bunch of style changes and a new set of features. In addition to the style and features changes, the popular SUV gets a tweaked engine for more power packed performance on and off the road.

The 2017 Mahindra Scorpio gets a new face with an all-new 7-slot front grille, which looks quite cool. The grille has a striking resemblance to the newly launched Jeep Compass, but in reality, it inherits its family traits as the Mahindra Imperio pick-up truck has a similar grille design. The new Scorpio retains the same set of headlights but the cluster design has been refreshed. The bumper design at the front remains the same while the fog lamps have been slightly tweaked with chrome embellishment making them more appealing to eyes.

Coming to the side profile, there’s a new set of 5-spoke alloy wheels and ORVMs. The rear profile of the new Scorpio has also been revamped with a new sporty red tinted tail lamps instead of the clear glass ones in its predecessor. Further, the tailgate has been revised, while the black design element has also been removed to give the car a refreshed look.

In terms of mechanicals, the 2017 Mahindra Scorpio retains the same 2.2-litre mHawk diesel engine of its bigger brother, XUV500. The engine now pumps out a total of 140bhp and 330Nm (20 bhp and 50Nm more than the previous model) of torque with options of 5-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic gearbox. The new Scorpio will continue to feature start/stop hybrid technology.
With the launch, the 7-seater SUV will be competing against the mid-sized SUVs such as the Renault Duster and the Hyundai Creta in the segment. The latest update will keep things going until and unless the all-new next generation Scorpio comes sometime in the year 2020.
