Just after a few days of officially launching the MG Astor in the Indian car market, MG has released the prices of the top-spec variant with an autonomous driving assistance system (ADAS). The new top-spec variant of the MG Astor is termed as ‘Savvy’, which gets autonomous level 2 ADAS features over the Sharp variant. The prices for MG Astor Savvy begin at Rs 15.78 lakh (ex-showroom, India), which makes it the most affordable car to get factory-fitted ADAS features.
Prices
The MG Astor Savvy sits above the Sharp variant and is offered in just two versions. While the one with the combination of a 1.5-litre petrol engine and the 5-speed manual gearbox is priced at Rs 15.78 lakh, the one with the 1.5-litre petrol engine and CVT gearbox will set you back by Rs 17.38 lakh. The petrol-manual combination of the Savvy variant is also available with an optional Sangria Red interior scheme at a premium of Rs 10,000, which gives it a price of Rs 15.88 lakh.
With the arrival of this new variant, the MG Astor now has a total of five variants on offer – Style, Super, Smart, Sharp and Savvy. The petrol-CVT combination is not provided in the Style variant. In addition, the more premium combination of turbo-petrol-AT is not offered with ADAS features, and it continues to be available in only Smart and Sharp variants.
The MG Astor Savvy is being offered in five different colour options, which are Spiced Orange, Aurora Silver, Glaze Red, Candy White and Starry Black.
MG Astor Savvy – What’s new
The only addition which the MG Astor Savvy gets above the erstwhile top-spec Sharp variant is the long list of ADAS features. This list includes safety aids like adaptive cruise control, lane functions (lane departure warning, lane departure prevention and lane keep assist), forward collision prevention (forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking and automatic emergency braking-pedestrian), intelligent headlamp control, speed assist system (information mode, intelligent mode and manual mode) and rear drive assist (blind-spot detection, lane change assist and rear cross-traffic alert). Among all of these features, the rear-drive assist is available also in the Sharp variant as standard.
Apart from these features, the Savvy variant gets all the features which are there in the Sharp variant, including LED headlamps and tail lamps, 17-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels, panoramic sunroof, powered driver’s seat, full TFT instrument console 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple Carplay and Android Auto, push start-stop button, automatic climate control, leather upholstery, personal AI assistant, digital key, iSmart connectivity features compatible with Hinglish commands, PM 2.5 air filter, 360-degree camera and more.
Powertrain Options
The only engine option for the Savvy variant of the MG Astor is the 1.5-litre four-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine. Available with both the options of a 5-speed manual and a CVT gearbox, the engine is capable of making 110 bhp of maximum power and 144 Nm of maximum torque.
