Skoda has brought in its much awaited premium compact SUV in the Indian car market – the all new Skoda Kushaq. Touted as a significant debut model for its aggressive India 2.0 plan of Skoda Auto Volkswagen India, the Skoda Kushaq has been launched as a petrol-only model in India, with two petrol engine options across three different trim levels. Prices for the Skoda Kushaq start at Rs. 10.50 lakh for the base Active 1.0 MT variant and goes all the way up to Rs. 17.60 lakh for the range topping Style 1.5 DSG variant.
2021 Skoda Kushaq – Exterior
The Skoda Kushaq comes with a sharp and crisp looking exterior design, which has been crafted on the lines of other global SUVs from Skoda like Kamiq, Karoq and Kodiaq. The Skoda Kushaq sits on an India-specific MQB A0 IN platform, which is going to be the common base for the upcoming vehicles from the Volkswagen group in India.
The SUV has been equipped with premium equipment like full LED projector headlamps with daytime running LEDs, LED tail lamps, side body cladding, scuff plates at front and rear, roof rails, chrome finished door handles and 17-inch machined alloy wheels. There are five color options on offer, namely Candy White, Reflex Silver, Carbon Steel, Honey Orange and Tornado Red.

The Skoda Kushaq comes with an all new design language on the inside, with the all-black cabin layout and a few bits resembling that of the newly launched Octavia. The range topping Skoda Kushaq, in its Style trim, comes with a host of premium features, such as leather upholstery, ventilated front seats, wireless charger, 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple Carplay and Android Auto, two-spoke multi-functional steering wheel, electric sunroof, ambient lighting, cruise control, tilt and telescopic adjustable steering wheel, paddle shifters
2021 Skoda Kushaq – Powertrain Options
Launched as a petrol-only model, the Skoda Kushaq can be had with one of the two petrol engine options on offer. First is the a 1.0-liter three cylinder turbocharged TSI petrol engine, which has been shared with the Rapid sedan. Available with both 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic gearbox, this engine makes 115 PS of maximum power and 178 Nm of maximum torque.
There is a more powerful 1.5-liter four cylinder turbocharged petrol engine, which powers the Volkswagen T-Roc and comes with cylinder deactivation technology as a fuel saving measure. This engine makes 150 PS of maximum power and 250 Nm of peak torque, and is being offered with both 6-speed manual and 7-speed DSG gearbox options.

The Skoda Kushaq has ventured into a cut-throat competitive segment spearheaded by Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos, with other offerings such as Renault Duster, Nissan Kicks, MG Hector and Tata Harrier. The Skoda Kushaq comes in three trim levels – Active, Ambition and Style, which comprise of seven different variants, prices of which are as follows:
