Tata Harrier Automatic Launched at Rs 16.25 lakh in India

Updated Tata Harrier gets BS-6 engine, gets a new colour option and is powered by a retuned engine that churns more power output

Launched in India two days prior to the 2020 Auto Expo, Tata Motors today unveiled the prices of its most anticipated Harrier SUV – the Tata Harrier AT. Besides, automatic version, Harrier also gets the new BS-6 compliant engine under its hood. The prices of Tata Harrier Automatic start Rs 16.25 lakh (ex-showroom) onwards for the base trim and stretch up to Rs 20.25 lakh (ex-showroom) for the top of the line trim.

With bookings already on at Rs 30,000, the latest Harrier iteration features improvement in the engine as well as other departments. List of Tata Harrier competitors includes MG Hector, Mahindra XUV500, Nissan Kicks, Jeep Compass and others.

Exterior

Minor changes on the outside include redesigned wing mirrors for optimum visibility and introduction of new paint scheme ‘Calypso Red’ in addition to the existing 8-colour choice. The new high end trims XZ+ and XZA+ receive 6-way adjustable electric-powered driver seat, panoramic sunroof, auto-dimming IRVM, diamond-cut 17-inch alloy wheels with dual-tone.

Engine & Specifications

Based on the OMEGARC architecture from Land Rover’s D8 platform, the 2020 Harrier with lone 2.0L Kryotec BS6 diesel engine now churns out an improved 170hp of power against 140hp in the BS4 spec. Mated to 6-speed manual transmission as standard, it now gets an option of 6-speed AT on the XMA, XZA, and a new top-end trim XZA+.

Safety Features

Safety feature list comprises of ABS and EBD, dual airbags (standard), dual + four airbags (top-end), traction control, hill start and descent control. Moreover, the electronic stability program (ESP) element, earlier limited to top-spec XZ, now comes as standard on all trims.

Besides Tata Harrier, the 7-seater Tata Gravitas was also showcased at the 2020 Auto Expo, which is an extended version of the 5-seater Harrier.
