Within a year of its launch, Tata Motors has updated the lineup of its flagship SUV Safari with new range-topping variants. Introduced as Tata Safari Gold Edition, the new variants have been bestowed with a list of cosmetic highlights, most of which are finished in gold-coloured. The new Gold Edition variants are based on the range-topping XZ+ and XZA+ variants, thereby sharing the list of equipment with the latter two variants.
2021 Tata Safari Gold Edition: Exterior Highlights
The new Tata Safari Gold Edition has been introduced in two new colour options of ‘White Gold’ and ‘Black Gold’. The ‘White Gold’ paint scheme is a combination of Frost White with a black coloured roof and rearview mirrors. On the other hand, the ‘Black Gold’ version is finished in a paint scheme of dark coffee-brown colour, which has been obtained by mixing black and a hint of gold.
Both the ‘White Gold’ and ‘Black Gold’ version of the Tata Safari Gold Edition come with gold touches on the front grille, headlamps, roof rails, door handles and badges. Both these colour options ride on 18-inch Charcoal Black alloy wheels, which are the same as those in Tata Safari Adventure Edition.
2021 Tata Safari Gold Edition: Interior Highlights
On the inside of the Tata Safari Gold Edition too, the cabin comes with several golden highlights. While the ‘White Gold’ version has a dual-tone white marble finish with a golden layer across the dashboard, the ‘Black Gold’ gets a black marble finish with a piano black layer. Both the versions additionally get golden surrounds for AC vents, instrument console and inner door handles and badges. The Oyster White finish for the quilted leather upholstery too is standard in both versions.
2021 Tata Safari Gold Edition: Powertrain
The 2.0-litre four-cylinder diesel engine, which is the mainstay of the rest of the lineup of Tata Safari, is placed under the hood of the Gold Edition of the SUV as well. Available with both 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic gearbox options, the engine makes 170 bhp of maximum power and 350 Nm of maximum torque.
2021 Tata Safari: Other Changes
Apart from introducing these new ‘Gold Edition’ variants, Tata Motors has also updated the equipment list in the range-topping XZ+ and XZA+ variants of the Safari. The said variants now add in features like ventilated front and second-row seats, wireless Apple Carplay and Android Auto, wireless charger and air purifier. All these features are there in the ‘Gold Edition’ and ‘Adventure’ edition too, though the latter misses out on ventilated seats.
2021 Tata Safari Gold Edition: Pricing
Both the ‘White Gold’ and ‘Black Gold’ versions of the Tata Safari have been priced at Rs 21.89 lakh for the XZ+ manual and Rs 23.18 lakh for the XZA+ automatic variants. The said prices are equal for both 6 and 7 seater versions. The SUV will make its public debut at the VIVO IPL 2021, which is going to resume in Dubai.
