Tata has launched the Tiago NRG in India. Know all the details of this rugged looking, crossover-alike hatchback.
After a span of one year, Tata Motors has brought back the rugged looking version of the Tiago hatchback, the Tiago NRG. Like before, the new Tata Tiago NRG is based on the regular Tiago with a host of cosmetic add-ons in and out and a couple of dimensional differences as well.
The new Tata Tiago NRG is now available in only one variant with both petrol-manual and petrol-AMT combinations, the prices for which start at Rs. 6.57 lakh (ex-showroom, India).
2021 Tata Tiago NRG: Exterior
Like before, the new Tata Tiago NRG gets body cladding all around, but this time, it is based on the facelifted Tata Tiago which was launched in 2020. The bumpers look more muscular here, and get redesigned faux silver skid plates. There is additional dose of body cladding on the boot lid between the tail lamps. Other visual changes include 15-inch alloy wheels, roof rails, blacked out B and C pillars and black treatment for roof, rear view mirrors and door handles.
The Tata Tiago NRG is longer than the regular Tiago, with additional 37mm of length courtesy the body cladding on front and rear bumpers. Also, the ground clearance is 181mm here, which is 11mm more than that of the regular Tiago.
2021 Tata Tiago NRG: Interior
The overall layout of the cabin of the Tata Tiago NRG is exactly the same as that of the regular Tiago. However, here, the cabin has been an all-black treatment, with contrast red-colored touches around AC vents and gear lever.
The Tiago NRG is based on the top-spec XZ+ variant of the regular Tiago, and gets all the comfort and convenience features of the variant, such as 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple Carplay and Android Auto, height adjustable driver seat, premium Harman sound system, steering mounted audio and Bluetooth controls, power folding rear view mirrors and fully digital instrument console. However, the Tiago NRG misses out on automatic climate control, though it does get push button start with keyless entry in addition.
2021 Tata Tiago NRG: Powertrain
This time around, the Tata Tiago NRG is available only with a 1.2-liter three-cylinder petrol engine, which powers the regular Tiago as well. Here too, the engine is available with both the options of 5-speed manual and 5-speed AMT gearbox options. The maximum power and torque outputs of the engine are rated at 86 bhp and 113 Nm respectively.
2021 Tata Tiago NRG: Variants and Color Options
The Tata Tiago NRG is available only in a single fully loaded variant, which costs Rs. 23,000 more than the manual and AMT versions of the top-spec XZ+ variant of Tiago. While the manual Tiago NRG is priced at Rs. 6.57 lakh, the AMT version of it has been priced at Rs. 7.09 lakh (both prices ex-showroom, India).
The Tata Tiago NRG is now offered in four different paint schemes – Fired Red, Snow White, Cloudy Grey and Foresta Green. This rugged looking hatchback has will compete with similar looking cars like Maruti Suzuki Ignis and Mahindra KUV100.
