While Tata Motors is touching new heights of success month after month, the foundation stone of this new phase of success was laid by the Tiago. The Tata Tiago came in as a successor to the legendary Indica and helped Tata Motors gain a stronger foothold in the compact hatchback segment. It is with the Tiago that Tata Motors bounced back in the volume game.
Launched in 2016, the Tata Tiago gained a facelift in 2020, which made it a petrol-only hatchback. The 1.2-litre three-cylinder naturally-aspirated petrol engine, which produces 86 PS of power and 113 Nm of torque, became the standard powertrain of the Tiago. The Tiago is now offered with two transmission choices of a 5-speed manual and 5-speed AMT. Later on, the Tiago also received CNG-powered variants with factory-fitted CNG kits, which claim 73 PS of power and 95 Nm of torque and is available with a 5-speed manual gearbox as standard.
Following is a detailed description of all the variants of the Tata Tiago, including their price, colour options and features with which they are all available.
Tata Tiago XE
Colour options: Flame Red, Opal White and Daytona Grey (CNG version available only with Flame Red and Arizona Blue)
Price: Rs 5.40 lakh (petrol-manual), Rs. 6.30 lakh (CNG-manual)
The XE variant happens to be the range-starting variant of the entire range of Tata Tiago, and as expected, it is very basic in terms of visual appeal and features on offer. It gets body-coloured front bumper and steel wheels without wheel caps while having an integrated roof spoiler at the back. On the inside too, it feels quite basic with manual AC, tilt-adjustable power steering and adjustable front seat headrests, though it gets a dual-tone black and grey layout for the cabin. It is complete with basic safety features including dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, corner stability control and reverse parking sensors.

While there are no additional features in this XM variant over the XE on the outside, the interior gets a few added features like front and rear power windows and a 2-DIN audio system with two speakers and Bluetooth connectivity. It also gets a rear parcel tray, display for parking sensors, day and night inside rearview mirror and manual central locking over the XE variant.
Tata Tiago XT(O)
Colour options: Flame Red, Opal White, Midnight Plum, Daytona Grey and Arizona Blue
Price: Rs. 5.85 lakh (petrol-manual)
Compared to the XM variant, the XT(O) variant of the Tat Tiago looks slightly less basic on the outside, as it gets LED turn indicators and piano black finish on the outside rearview mirrors, body-coloured door handles and wheel caps for the 14-inch steel wheels. The interior also gets a few crucial additional features like electrically adjustable outside rearview mirrors, remote central locking, steering-mounted audio and Bluetooth controls and additional two speakers at the rear. However, compared to the XM variant, it misses out on the 2-DIN audio system, rear parcel tray and guidelines for the reverse sensors.

Tata also sells the Tiago in a more rugged-looking SUV-ish version as the Tiago NRG. This version of the hatchback gets a few additional elements like the armoured front, side and rear cladding, squircle wheel arches with body moulding, black roof, front silver skid plate and roof rails. The cabin of the Tiago NRG has an all-black layout against the dual-tone layouts in the standard versions of the hatchback.
The Tata Tiago NRG comes in two variants – XT and XZ. The XT variant of the Tiago NRG, available at Rs 6.42 lakh for the sole petrol-manual version, retains all the features of the XT variant of the standard Tiago and gets a rear wiper and washer in addition.
On the other hand, the XZ variant of the Tiago NRG is priced at Rs 6.83 lakh for the petrol manual and Rs 7.38 lakh for the petrol-AMT variants. The Tiago NRG XZ gets all the features of the XZ+ variant of the regular Tiago but misses out on alloy wheels (and gets 15-inch Hyperstyle wheel caps) and automatic climate control.
