UM Motorcycles Renegade Duty S Review With Price In India

Overview

UM, motorcycles unveiled a new street cruiser at the 2018 Indian Auto Expo. The American motorcycle manufacturer introduced the motorcycle with an all-new design and a new and exclusive powerplant. The bike also gets several premium features which give it a competitive advantage over its rivals.

Price

The company confirmed that the cruiser will be launched with a price tag of Rs. 1.10 Lakh.

Features

The new motorcycle comes with premium features like a new analogue/digital instrument cluster which is integrated into a single gauge layout. The instrument cluster comes with gear position indicator, odometer and fuel level indicator. Also, on offer is a halogen headlight and taillight. The front forks also get LED strips which aim to increase visibility at night.

Engine and Specifications

Renegade Duty S gets a new 223cc engine which produces a peak power output of 16bhp and 17 Nm of torque. The powerplant is an oil-cooled unit and comes mated to a 5-speed gearbox and the power is sent to the rear wheel via a chain drive setup.

Mileage

UM Renegade Duty S will be offered with an ARAI claimed fuel economy of 41kmpl. The 10-litre fuel tank gives the motorcycle a total riding range of 410kms.

Braking and Handling

The new bike will be offered with a disc and drum brake setup. The front alloy will get a two-Piston 280 mm calliper disc brake and 130mm drum brakes will be offered on the rear alloy.

Wheels

The motorcycle rides on 17-inch alloys at the front and the rear wheel gets a 15-inch alloy.

Colours

Duty S gets a street rod-esque design which is achieved by incorporating a minimum number of body panels. The company claims Renegade Duty S is a dual-purpose motorcycle which comes with both on-road and off-road capabilities. The rugged nature of the motorcycle is further enhanced by a matte combat green and contrasting black paint scheme. Duty S is only available in a single colour scheme.

Competition

As a cruiser, Renegade Duty S will compete with the likes of the Bajaj Avenger series. It will also compete with other cruisers on sale in the Indian market like Royal Enfield Thunderbird 350 and Royal Enfield Himalayan.
