2018 Auto Expo: UM Renegade Thor, World’s First Electric Cruiser Unveiling On 8th February

UM Renegade Thor will be the world’s first electric high-speed cruiser and will be launched later this year in India.

UM, the American two-wheeler maker has announced that it will showcase world’s first ever electric geared high-speed cruiser bike at the Indian Auto Expo 2018. The official communication from the company has confirmed that the auto-giant is geared up to introduce the UM Renegade Thor at the 2018 Auto Expo. The Thor will be unveiled on 8th February at the India Expo Mart, stall no. E-26, Hall no. 4 between 11:40 to 12:00 pm.

The official communication (picture shown below) reads the Renegade Thor’s punchline “It’s Time To Move Past CC”. The cruiser will be launched this year in India and will stand out of the crowd of typical cruisers currently sold in the domestic market due to its ‘electrical’ advantage.

The motorcycle, unlike the usual combustion engine, gets batteries that will punch power to an electric powertrain. The specification details aren’t yet communicated by the company and will be revealed during the bike’s unveiling at the Auto Expo 2018.

As far as the appearance of the UM Renegade Thor is concerned, the teaser image displayed in the official invite makes it quite clear that the motorcycle will get traditional cruiser appearance, and feature the low slung stance along with low seat and pulled back handle bars. Interestingly, this year, at the 2018 Auto Expo, a Bengaluru-based Indian startup, Emflux Motors will also launch India’s first ever electric sports bike named Emflux One. Besides, Twenty Two Motors will also showcase a smart electric scooter at the motor show.

Currently in India, UM sells Renegade series of entry-level cruisers that include – Renegade Commando, Renegade Commando Classic, Renegade Commando Mojave and Renegade Sport S. All of these entry-level cruisers come powered by a 230cc, 1-pot engine.
