The next-generation Hyundai i20 will be launched in October, right in the festive season.
Tata Motors have slashed the prices of its premium hatchback Tata Altroz by up to Rs 40,000 with immediate effect. The discount is available on all the diesel variants of the Altroz except for the base Altroz XE.

Reason for the price cut?
Well, the home grown automaker had raised the prices of its hatch a month ago by Rs 15,000. The transition from BS4 to BS6 have costed automakers and almost every one decided to pass on some of its toll on to consumers. Nothing bad in it. However, the nearing launch of the next-gen i20 (due in October) has compelled Tata to come up with a plan to continue the dream run in the premium hatch space – it sold all-time high close to 5,000 units of Altroz in August.
In order to continue the momentum of the Altroz, Tata decided to drop prices on the diesel Altroz.
What is the reason of Tata Altroz’s overwhelming sales?
It is the only premium hatch with a diesel option! Maruti Suzuki, Honda and Hyundai had dropped diesel engines from their Baleno, Jazz and i20, respectively. Honda and Maruti have no imminent plans to launch their cars with diesel engines. However, the next month launch of the i20 with the 1.5-litre diesel engine is a concern for Tata Motors.

What are the new Altroz variants in the pipeline?
