2021 Toyota Fortuner Facelift Review: Prices, Specifications, Features, Exterior & Interior

The facelifted Toyota Fortuner 2021 comes at INR 29.98 lakh (ex-showroom, New Delhi). It is now available in another premium trim, baged ‘Fortuner Legender’, priced at INR 37.58 lakh (ex-showroom, New Delhi).

Toyota has launched the much-awaited facelited Fortuner SUV in India at the price tag of Rs 29.98 lakh (ex-showroom, New Delhi). Along with the facelifted 2021 Fortuner, the key highlight is the introduction of a premium version of this SUV named Toyota Fortuner Legender. The addition of the ‘Legender’ trim in the Fortuner line-up gives the SUV buyers an additional choice to opt the more sophisticated yet off-road capable version of the Fortuner SUV.

After the launch of the current generation of Toyota Fortuner, the 2021 model has received the major update in terms of looks, comforts, features, performance and innovation.

The standard Toyota Fortuner is offered in both petrol and diesel choices, both available in manual and automatic transmission choices. The buyers can go for either the 4X4 or 4X2 trim of the standard Fortuner. On the other hand, the newly introduced Legender variant is offered only in diesel engine with automatic gearbox and 4X2 drivability.

The refreshed avatar of Toyota Fortuner and its additional Legender variant are offered in the price range of Rs 29.98-37.58 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). With the update, the prices of new Toyota Fortuner trims have also increased.

The 2021 Toyota Fortuner has received various changes across its profile. The most visible being the change in the front bumper and the grille. A large mesh-pattern grille is designed beautifuly to project the masculine image of the SUV. Likewise, the redesigned front bumper that features an attractive skidplate gives it a bold presence on the roads.

The Fortuner facelift also gets newly styled LED headlamps that also house new LED daytime running lights to optimize the visibility in all the weather conditions. For further enhancement of the road visibility, set of attractive fog lights are embedded on the front bumper.

The sides and the rear too carry the similar cosmetic appeal. Newly designed 18-inches alloy wheels give the Fortuner SUV a sporty stance. Likewise, the extended side steppers allow you to easily get in the car. The wheel arc with strips dominate right above the tyres and rest of the sides are kept simple yet appealing. What additionally drives the attention at the sides are bigger windows of the Fortuner facelift (all the rows). Perhaps, Toyota wanted every single occupant to equally enjoy the scenic beauty outside the SUV. At the rear, the tail lights, rear windshield and bumper combiningly create a worth watching profile. What adds to the SUV’s cosmetic appeal is the elongated spoiler.

The Legender variant is also worth watching but it is made a little more urbanite and sophisticated although performance-wise, it comes with a similar caliber and has the potential to take on the rough terrains as good as the standard Fortuner. Toyota has nicely distinct the characters of these two models – the Standard Fortuner and the Fortuner Legender. While the former is projected as the core off-road machine, the latter is more elite and premium in class.

Interior and Features

Toyota Fortuner Facelift 2021 Interior Details

The interior inside 2021 Toyota Fortuner is designed to offer you maximum comfort and assist in an effortless drive. Although, it looks as similar to its outgoing model but yes, the newly introduce 8.0-inches infotainment that also supports Android Auto and Apple CarPlay is something new in the SUV.

The occupants will feel well-rested as the seats offer enough room and adequate thigh support. Also on offer are ventilated seats that allow you to feel all breezed in the hottest of weather conditions. Toyota has offered two interior colour schemes, all-black and chamois.

The instrument cluster of Fortuner facelift is slightly tweaked and the car is now also offered with various connectivity features such as geo fencing, car locator in parking, sending SOS in emergency and more.

2021 Toyota Fortuner Facelift Safety Features

In addition to these, the new Fortuner model also features LED ambient lighting, set of 11 JBL speakers, wireless charging, front and rear parking sensors and 360-degree camera, etc. In the Fortuner Legender variant, the most interesting feature is the hands-free tailgate opening function.

Engine & Specifications

2021 Toyota Fortuner Facelift Engine Specifications

Similar to the forerunner, the 2021 Toyota Fortuner facelift is also offered in 2.7-litre petrol and 2.8-litre diesel engine choices. The 2.7-litre petrol engine is capable of producing peak power of 166hp and peak torque of 245Nm. It is available either in a 5-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic gearbox choice. The 2.8-litre diesel engine of Fortuner has however improved remarkably and is now capable of producing 204hp of peak power and 420Nm of peak torque. But interestingly, the automatic trims of this 2.8-litre inlined Fortuner churn peak torque of 500Nm.

Similar to what we saw in the previous petrol model of Fortuner, the current model too is offered with 4X2, while the diesel powered variants are available in both 4X4 and 4X2 choices. For Toyota Legender variant, only the 4X2 system is currently on offer with a choice of 6-speed automatic transmission.

Toyota Fortuner facelift assures a safer ride to its occupants. This newly introduced Fortuner has received 5-star safety rating at ASEAN NCAP crash tests. The key safety and security features of Toyota Fortuner facelift include Vehicle Stability Control (VSC), Brake Assist (BA), Hill Assist Control (HAC), Traction Control System (TRC), 7 SRS airbags, ABS with EBD, speed autolock and emergency unlock, etc.
